Content: RESOLVED: That Cabinet: 1) Agrees to retain seven of the 39 sites that were previously approved for disposal by Cabinet on 15 January 2026 (Appendix 1). 2) Declares that a further five sites listed in Appendix 2 are surplus to requirements 3) Approves the sale of these five sites either by auction or private treaty. 4) Notes that after these changes, there are now a total of 37 garage sites in the disposals programme with the full list set out in Appendix 3. 5) Delegates authority to the Corporate Director of Residents Services, in consultation with the Corporate Director of Finance / s151 Officer and Cabinet Member for Planning, Housing & Property, to make further necessary decisions with regards the sale or use of these properties. Reasons for decision The Cabinet Member for Planning, Housing & Property introduced a report and recommendations, which Cabinet agreed, to update to the Council’s ongoing strategy for reviewing garage sites within its property portfolio by retaining seven sites previously approved for disposal and adding 5 sites for disposal. Alternative options considered and rejected Cabinet rejected selling the original seven sites or retaining the five additional garage sites, as these options would either deliver lower value or miss the opportunity to secure a greater return through development.
