Order 1 To revoke The County of Wiltshire (High Street, Calne) (Weight Restriction) Experimental Order 2025 and introduce a 3.5 tonne weight limit on High Street, Calne - from its junction with Wood Street to its junction with A4 Curzon Street. Order 2 To introduce a 9.9 metre length restriction on High Street, Calne - from its junction with Wood Street to its junction with A4 Curzon Street. To recommend proceeding with the introduction of the ETRO as advertised.
Content: To present the comments received during the advertisement period for the Experimental Traffic Regulation Orders (ETROs) relating to Calne High Street, together with the officer’s consideration of those representations. The report seeks a decision form the Cabinet Member on whether the ETRO should be made permanent. To recommend proceeding with the introduction of the ETRO as advertised. Following consultation with officers I give notice that I intend to make the decision set out in the attached report. If you would like to make any representations to me on this issue please do so by 31 July 2026. The Council has an adopted Air Quality Action Plan 2024-2029 which details actions required to deliver improvements to known areas of concern. The proposals are in accordance with Priorities 2, 5 and 7 of the Council’s Business Plan. To: (i) Implement the proposed ETRO as advertised. (ii) Abandon the proposals. Consultation has been undertaken with: Elected Wiltshire Council Member representing Calne Calne Town Council through the statutory ETRO consultation process Emergency services through the statutory ETRO consultation process Members of the public through the statutory ETRO consultation process
