Purpose:
Content: Part 2 – Private: LGA 1972 – Sch 12A Paragraph 3 – Financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the authority holding that information) (Decision Notice D260084MEM) Members considered the report of Planning Solutions Consulting Limited on the financial viability of running an in-house café at Tonbridge Castle. Members recognised the importance of improving the visitor experience at Tonbridge Castle and acknowledged the need to provide an offer that was appropriate to the historic setting. Members discussed alternative options and considered that a proportionate approach should be explored, which would enhance the existing offer without committing the Council to the costs and risks associated with a full café operation. Councillor Rhodes proposed, seconded by Councillor Lark and it was RECOMMENDED*: That (1) officers be authorised to explore improvements to the current delivery model of refreshments at Tonbridge Castle, together with opportunities to expand the Castle shop to provide a greater range of stock; and (2) a site visit to Tonbridge Castle be undertaken by Members, to better understand the current layout and the opportunities available to improve the visitor offer. *Decision taken by Cabinet Member for Community Services
