Purpose: The Museum and Schools programme aims to increase opportunities for, and access to, high-quality museum-based learning for children in underserved areas. It enables educational museum visits, loan boxes for schools, arts activities, and digital interactions between schools, pupils, and local museums. The programme is funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and administered by Arts Council England. The programme is currently under review, and DCMS propose that an interim rapid-response small grant programme be operated through Museum Development across England. This report seeks approval to accept and spend funding from the DCMS, administered by Arts Council England, for the Museum Learning and Education Grant Scheme. Museum Development South West would receive £127,560 to develop and deliver a small grant programme, providing grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 to approximately 6–10 museums in the South West.
