Purpose: This Resident Domestic Abuse Policy is needed as evidence to show our commitment to reducing risk and increasing safety for victim survivors of domestic abuse. This policy will enable further communications and signposting to residents on the Council’s website. Canterbury City Council is currently undertaking Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) accreditation. The Resident Domestic Abuse Policy includes raising awareness of the definition and signs of domestic abuse, signposting to specialist domestic abuse services and information for those who require housing assistance or need to leave or flee their homes.

Content: MT approved the original policy on  27th February 2025. Minor amendments have been made to ensure it is fully compliant. The decision is to formally adopt the Resident Domestic Abuse Policy using delegated authority to the Director People.
