Purpose:

Content: Before the Committee was a report by the Chief Governance Officer, copies of which had been circulated to all Members and a copy of which is attached to the signed copy of these minutes as Item 16.   The report before Members set out a motion (attached as Appendix 1) referred from the meeting of Worthing Borough Council on 21 July 2026.   Members noted that West Sussex County Council had launched a consultation on delivering Climate action plan subsequent to the motion. It was opined that the motion was more appropriate for a County wide response that would allow the greater region to apply for large scale national funds.   It was agreed that the motion would be referred to the West Sussex Climate change board for the board’s consideration and that the Cabinet would submit a response to the West Sussex climate change mitigation and adaptation consultation including the contents of the motion.     Decision:   1.    That the motion be rejected reluctantly;   2.    That the motion be referred to the West Sussex Climate Change Board   3.    That the Cabinet submit a response to the West Sussex climate change mitigation and adaptation consultation including the contents of the motion.     Call In: The call-in deadline for decisions will be 5.00pm on 18 September 2026.
