Purpose:

Content: The Portfolio Holder for Public Protection and Enforcement approved the renewal of the Public Space Protection Order (Dog Controls) 2026-29, with the amendment that the 2025 amendment to the Cemetery Rules and Regulations to permit dogs in cemeteries when kept on a lead at all times remains, having considered the outcome of the public consultation as summarised in paragraph 4.25 of the report. The Public Space Protection Order (Dog Controls) 2026-29 Report set out the proposed changes to the powers of the Council relating to those in charge of dogs through the implementation of a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) under Section 59 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.   An amendment to the recommendations was added as follows:   ‘That the 2025 amendment to the Cemetery Rules and Regulations to permit dogs in cemeteries when kept on a lead at all times remains, having considered the outcome of the public consultation as summarised in paragraph 4.25 of the report.’
