Purpose:
Content: Grant Thornton submitted their Annual Report on Ribble Valley Borough Council covering the period up to 31 March 2024. No significant weaknesses in regard to financial sustainability and governance arrangements had been identified for 2023/2024 and a number of improvement recommendations had been made or remained in place. One significant weakness had been identified in the Council’s arrangements for securing economy, efficiency and effectiveness in its use of resources. Further details of which were provided in the report. Work on the audit was still in progress although an unqualified audit report opinion was anticipated on the Council’s financial statements. The Council had provided draft accounts on 12 June 2024 just after the national deadline of 31 May 2024. The quality of the draft financial statements and the supporting working papers were reported to be of a reasonable standard and supported by detailed working papers. The Chairman thanked Grant Thornton for their work. RESOLVED THAT COMMITTEE: Accepted the Auditor’s Annual Report for the year ending 31 March 2024 with the understanding that the audit was still ongoing, and a further report would be brought to Committee.
