Purpose: On 9 December 2024, Cllr Peter McDonald, Lead Cabinet Member for Economic Development, and Cllr John Williams, Lead Cabinet Member for Resources assessed the scoring matrix for the applications received under the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Small Business Grants scheme. (Appendix A) Due to the high level of applications received the twenty-two highest scoring were recommended for approval, taking into consideration the funding allocation available of £100,000.   After consideration of these applications, the Lead Cabinet Member for Economic Development and the Lead Cabinet Member for Resources recommended the following applications for approval, subject to final anti-fraud checks:     Avenue Food Park, Elsworth - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000.   Epworth Ltd, T/A Lalbagh , Bourn - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000.   T R Global Events, Oakington - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000.   Cambridge Painting and Decorating, Comberton - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000.   Protec UK, T/A Cassette Collars, Sawston - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000. CGSS, Bar Hill - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £4,562.00.   The Manor Florist, Barton - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £4,000.   The Cabin Beauty, Cambourne - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £3,588.00.   Cambridge Cycle Surgery, Waterbeach - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £3,511,91.   Northstowe Tap and Social, Northstowe - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000.   Webbsour Bakery, Elsworth - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000.   Banquet Inn Bars, Harlton - be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000.   Technical Moves, Duxford – be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000.   Total Access and Security, Hardwick – be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £4,923.92.   Pixie Brewing, Barrington – be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000.   Joseph McCarthy, Thriplow – be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £4,717.50.   Promowater, Bar Hill – be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £4,825.00.   Sweetie Factory, Papworth Everard – be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000.   Tildabell Events, Bourn – be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £5,000.   Kickboxing Cambridge, Babraham – be approved and funded at the full amount requested of £3,749.99.   Polly Hart Photography, Cambourne – be funded at £2449.00 of the full amount requested of £4,027.00.   Pheonix Clearance & Removals, Waterbeach – be funded at £3673.67 of the full amount requested of £5,000.

The applications were considered in detail and scored by officers of the Economic Development Team and a representative of the Combined Authority Growth Hub before being presented to the Lead Cabinet Member for Economic Development. To reject or vary the recommendations and decide on the level of funding (£0 - £5,000) to be awarded for each application, or defer a decision if further information was required from grant applicants.
