Content: To review a proposed variation to fees and charges for applications made under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 and Town Police Clauses Act 1847. 9.1.1 Members of the committee considered a report of the Executive Director Neighbourhood Services to review a proposed variation to fees and charges for applications made under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 and Town Police Clauses Act 1847. 9.1.2 Following a public consultation on the proposed fees and charges for 2024-25 a number of objections had been received and it was proposed that these be considered and that Fees and Charges for 2024-25, as set out in the recommendations, be approved, to take effect from 3rd February 2025. 9.2 RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY: That the Waste and Street Scene Policy Committee approved the following recommendation to take effect from 3rd February 2025; That the Taxi and Private Hire Licence Fees and Charges for 2024-25, as set out in Appendix C to this report, as well as an option for a smaller private hire operator banding (1-10), a 2-year driver licence and a 2-, 3-, and 4-year private hire operator licence, be approved, to take effect from 3rd February 2025. 9.3 Reasons for Decision 9.3.1 Increasing fees as per the proposal will ensure the Licensing Service recovers its reasonable costs in administering and ensuring compliance with the Hackney Carriage and Private Hire licensing regime. 9.4 Alternatives Considered and Rejected 9.4.1 Alternative Option 1: Not approving the proposed increase in licence fees. This will require continued subsidy from the general fund and/or reductions in quality/timeliness of service to remain within budget. 9.4.2 Alternative Option 2: Approving a lower licence fee to that proposed. This will require continued subsidy and/or reductions in quality and timeliness of service to remain within budget.
