Purpose: Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme for 2025/26 in respect of Highways, Public Lighting & Bridges and Structures The PPM programme is vital for maintenance of a safe and efficient network which provides a universal service to all residents, businesses and visitors. Within the programme the focus on footway/cycleway improvements, surface water management and lighting will directly address Fairer Communities and Fairer Environment priorities by, for example, improving accessibility for those without access to a car, improving public health and wellbeing, reducing carbon emissions and reducing crime.

Content: Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme for 2025/26 in respect of Highways, Public Lighting & Bridges and Structures The PPM programme is vital for maintenance of a safe and efficient network which provides a universal service to all residents, businesses and visitors. Within the programme the focus on footway/cycleway improvements, surface water management and lighting will directly address Fairer Communities and Fairer Environment priorities by, for example, improving accessibility for those without access to a car, improving public health and wellbeing, reducing carbon emissions and reducing crime. The Cabinet Member for City Management and Air Quality approves the detailed proposals for the Highways PPM programme for 2025/26 at an estimated gross cost of £9,715,000.   The Cabinet Member approves the detailed proposals for Public Lighting PPM programme for 2025/26 at an estimated gross cost of £ 3,002,000, as well as the detailed proposals for the Bridges and Structures PPM programme for 2025/26 at an estimated gross cost of £1,865,020.   The Cabinet Member therefore approves the gross capital expenditure of £14,582,020 (net capital expenditure of £13,521,115) for 2025/26.   The Cabinet Member also delegates to the Interim Director for City Highways the authority to make changes to the programmes agreed in recommendations 2.2 to 2.4, subject to the proviso that the overall budget is not exceeded and that the Cabinet Member is consulted on any significant changes.
