Purpose: To present the City Mayor’s strategy for balancing the budget for the next 3 years and to seek approval to the actual budget for 2025/26.

Content: To present the City Mayor’s strategy for balancing the budget for the next 3 years and to seek approval to the actual budget for 2025/26.   1.         To publish draft revenue budget proposals in advance of making firm proposals to the council on 19th February, 2025;   2.         To advise the scrutiny function that comments on the draft proposals may be made until 31st January, 2025.   Under the constitution, the full Council is responsible for approving the budget and this is expected to take place on 19th February, 2025.   The City Mayor is responsible for proposing a draft budget to the Council.  In advance of making firm proposals, the constitution requires the preparation of a draft proposal which can be considered by the scrutiny function.   The draft proposal is contained in a draft Council report.  It is noted that this was  prepared without the benefit of the provisional local government finance settlement.  The final report will reflect the settlement, and any other new information received between now and February.   N/A
