Purpose: To: (i) Consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a 20mph Speed Limit in the village of Sherston and to recommend a way forward.
Content: To: (i) Consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a 20mph Speed Limit in the village of Sherston and to recommend a way forward. INTENTION TO MAKE DECISION Following consultation with officers I give notice that I intend to make the decision set out in the attached report. If you would like to make any representations to me on this issue please do so by 27 December 2024. The proposed 20mph speed limit is in line with national guidance and the changes are proposed following a detailed speed limit assessment by a Wiltshire Council Engineer. Collectively, these changes should provide a positive impact on road safety. The proposals are in accordance with Outcomes 2 and 3 of the Council’s Business Plan. The proposals have been prioritised by the Malmesbury LHFIG and supported by the Area Board, as well as Sherston Parish Council and Wiltshire Councillor Martin Smith (Sherston division). To: (i) Implement the proposed TROs as advertised. (ii) Amend the proposed TROs in consideration of the comments received. (iii)Abandon the proposals. Consultation has been undertaken with: The elected Wiltshire Council Members through the statutory TRO consultation process. The elected Sherston Parish Council through the statutory TRO consultation process Members of the Malmesbury Local Highways & Footways Improvement Group (LHFIG) Emergency services through the statutory TRO consultation process Members of the public through the statutory TRO consultation process The proposed TROs were subject to formal consultation between 15th August 2024 and the 9th September 2024. During the consultation period a total of forty two items of correspondence were received in response to the Council’s proposals. Those comments related to the proposals as follows: 2 items of correspondence – general comments only 36 items of correspondence supporting the proposals, of which 19 also requested Easton Town and surrounding areas to be included within the 20mph speed limit proposals. 4 items of correspondence objecting to the proposals. . The comments received and officer responses are set out in Appendix 3. A list of respondents can be seen at Appendix 2.
