Purpose: The purpose of the report is to outline the Council’s role as a supporting authority in the production of the Kent and Medway Local Nature Recovery Strategy. At this stage it is for the Council to either confirm that it is content for the LNRS to proceed to public consultation or to object which would prevent the LNRS from proceeding and would result in a resolution by the Secretary of State.

Content: The purpose of the report is to outline the Council’s role as a supporting authority in the production of the Kent and Medway Local Nature Recovery Strategy. At this stage it is for the Council to either confirm that it is content for the LNRS to proceed to public consultation or to object which would prevent the LNRS from proceeding and would result in a resolution by the Secretary of State. To confirm to Kent County Council that the Council is content for the public consultation on the draft Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) to proceed. This will enable the public consultation to proceed as planned. To raise objections to the draft LNRS, or its preparation. This would unnecessarily delay the public consultation. The “supporting authorities” are still able to comment on any detailed matters as part of the wider consultation.
