Content: Detailed report covering the council’s annual rent setting and other charging proposals for 2025/26. Agreed (i) - That Cabinet recommends to City Council that, as part of the budget setting processes approval is given to: (i) Increasing council housing and garage rents by 2.7% (September 2024 CPI (1.7%) plus 1%). (ii) Increasing tenant service charges by 2.7% (CPI plus 1%) (iii) Increasing services and facilities charges as set out in paragraph 3.15 of this report. (iv)Extending the Financial Independence Fund by a further financial year at the level of £100,000 per annum, for the purpose of allowing discretionary awards to be made to certain council tenants who are experiencing hardship and thereby promoting their welfare by preventing eviction and homelessness. Agreed (ii) - That following consideration of the consultation feedback on the amenity charge as set out in paragraphs 3.18 to 3.22 of the report submitted, Cabinet agreed not to introduce an amenity charge at the current time as detailed at option 1 of paragraph 3.22.
