Purpose:

Content: i)     To approve the inclusion of new project in the council capital programme, with a value of £13m to build a new primary school in the North Yate area (Ladden Garden Village) as a 1 Form of Entry (FE) school with 2 FE infrastructure. This would enable the school to open as a 1 FE School with the ability to be efficiently expanded to 2 FE as pupil numbers dictate. The anticipated opening date for the new school to be September 2028, subject to meeting key milestones in the programme including (but not limited to): acquiring the identified site, obtaining planning permission and meeting the construction timelines. Progress will be monitored against the programme plan (and these key milestones) and a report will be brought back to Cabinet within the next twelve months to report on progress against the plan.   ii)    To delegate authority for delivery of the project to create the proposed new primary school to the Executive Director for the Department for People in consultation with Cabinet Member for Education, Skills, Employment and Business. iii)   To delegate authority to the Executive Director of Resources and Business Change in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Corporate Resources, the Executive Director for the Department for People and the Cabinet Member for Education, Skills, Employment and Business:   a.    acquiring of the land necessary for the construction of the proposed school; b.    Take such steps as are necessary to procure the development of the site including, but not limited to, the procurement and award of contract for the design and build of the new buildings as appropriate.
