Decision Maker: Cabinet Member (Finance and Assets)
Outcome:
Is Key Decision?: No
Is Callable In?: Yes
Purpose:
Content: Decision made: To implement car parking restrictions and charges on the Civic car park following consultation. Reasons for decision: The decision was made via Executive Member decision on 15th November 2024 to implement parking charges and restrictions at the Civic car park. Now that the consultation has concluded it is proposed to implement the charges and restrictions originally proposed. Other options considered and rejected: Not to charge for car parks. Rejected as car parks are expensive to maintain, the introduction of charging will help support the upkeep of this car park. Additionally, due to the use of the car park as a free resource by visitors to the town centre/adjacent doctors/Tesco etc, the car park is often close to full. As the Civic centre car park is primarily for council staff and people working in the Civic, if charges and restrictions are not introduced then staff will struggle to park
