Purpose:

Content: i)          To note the progress made in Year 6 (2025/26), ii)         To approve the outline proposals for the Year 7 (2026/27) Climate and Nature Emergency Action Plan and indicative budget spend, as set out in this report and appendices, and informed by the work of the South Gloucestershire Climate Emergency University Advisory Group, iii)        To formally recognise that the cross-party declaration refers to work on both the Climate and Nature Emergency reflecting our agreed work and approach, and therefore to update the title of the declaration to formally acknowledge nature, to be a Climate and Nature Emergency declaration. iv)        To remain committed to net zero by 2030 for the emissions within our direct control. However, for emissions outside of our control we plan to consider updating the area wide target in line with the UK’s statutory commitment and the Climate Change Committee (CCC). To be formally considered as part of an updated Climate and Nature Strategy to be brought forward in 2026/27.
