Purpose:

Content: i)          To increase the number of spaces available for children with SEND in mainstream school resource bases. ii)         To include 3 new projects in the council capital programme, with a value up to £4,725,000 to remodel existing available spaces and add extensions where necessary to accommodate the needs of pupils with SEND in the new Resource Base provision, fully funded by the High Needs Capital Grant received from the DfE. iii)        To delegate authority for delivery of the projects to increase the number of SEND Resource Base pupil places to the Executive Director for the Department for People in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Education, Skills, Employment and Business approval of the detailed scheme for procurement and development. iv)        To delegate authority to the Executive Director of Resources in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Corporate Resources, the Executive Director for the Department for People and the Cabinet Member for Education, Skills, Employment and Business a.         To take such steps as are necessary to procure the development of the projects including, but not limited to, the procurement and award of contract(s) for the design and modifications of the buildings as appropriate.
