Purpose: This item will explore the benefits of applying to Arts Council England for the Museum Service to become a National Portfolio Organisation when the new round opens in 2025. This would not only attract additional revenue funding for the service but align its activities and outcomes more closely with the national governing body for museums and assist ongoing sustainability.
Content: This item will explore the benefits of applying to Arts Council England for the Museum Service to become a National Portfolio Organisation when the new round opens in 2025. This would not only attract additional revenue funding for the service but align its activities and outcomes more closely with the national governing body for museums and assist ongoing sustainability. Agreed (i) - That Cabinet approve the request for the Museum Service to undertake the application process to become a National Portfolio Organisation. Agreed (ii) - That such approval is noted alongside our commitment to preserving and promoting the museum collections and our unique cultural heritage. Agreed (iii) - That Cabinet approve the exploration of alternative initiatives and collaborations to promote the city as a cultural destination and ensure the ongoing sustainability of the Museum Service.
