Purpose:
Content: The Cabinet considered a report of the Director of Economy and Place which sought approval of the necessary work to continue preserving the Touchstones building. The Senior Project Officer (Rochdale Development Agency) was in attendance to present the report and to address the questions and the comments of the Cabinet Members. Resolved that the recommendations as outlined at points 2.1 – 2.9 of the report be agreed. Reason for decision: As outlined at points 3.1 – 3.18 of the report. Alternatives considered and rejected: As outlined at point 4 of the report. The Chair of the Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee agreed to waiver the call-in period for this decision. The Chief Executive in consultation with the Chair of the Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee agreed that the decision proposed was reasonable in the circumstances and that it had to be dealt with as a matter of urgency. They acknowledged that any delay in implementing the decision could prejudice the Council's and/or the Public's interest in that additional and urgent roof work needed to be carried out to preserve the building.
